KICK-OFF CAMP 2024

Kick off the year with some great Bible teaching, a chance to get to know other uni students from Townsville and Cairns; and to think together about how to make the most of this year, and the years to come.

When: 8-10th March (Starting from 7pm on Friday evening and returning to Townsville/Cairns by 4pm on Sunday)

Where: New Life Pastures Campsite at Kennedy.

Cost: $100

We are staying at a great camp site just north of Cardwell that has dorms, bunk style beds and all your meals are provided.

We will be taking COVID Safe precautions, and complying with the site’s Covid-Safe Plan.

KICK OFF CAMP FAQS

When is camp?

Camp starts on Friday 8th March at 7pm, we really want to start all together so please plan to be there by about 6:30pm so we can start together. We’ll finish with lunch together on Sunday,  and expect to be back in Townsville before 5pm.

When do I need to register by?

Please register by Monday March 4th, it really helps us with the planning. If you have other considerations or questions, please get in touch by email so we know that you are interested.

How much does camp cost?

$100 for the weekend including accomodation and all meals.

How do I pay?

You can pay by direct deposit (details provided in registration confirmation email) or by cash at camp. If you need to make other arrangements (need financial assistance, or want to pay in installments), please contact us.

Do I have to pay now?

You don’t need to pay when you register. You can pay by direct deposit or at camp.

I can’t afford to pay- can you help?

We don’t want lack of funds to be a barrier to coming to camp, if you need some help to come along, please let us know.

How far away is it?

Kennedy is just north of the beachside town of Cardwell. It is approximately a 2.5 hour drive north of Townsville

How will we get there?

We drive in cars to camp. You can drive yourself but we try to carpool together so everyone can get there- and it’s fun to travel together. You can indicate whether you need a lift or offer lifts when you register.

What do I need to bring?

Here is a list of what to bring:

  • Sheets/sleeping bag
  • Pillow
  • Towel
  • Clothes
  • Bible, pen
  • Sun screen and mosquito repellent
  • Morning/afternoon tea/supper to share (all other meals provided)
  • Money for the bookshop
  • Swimming gear
  • Hat

Where will we sleep?

The campsite has separate guys and girls dorm style accommodation with four to six beds in each room.

What if I have dietary restrictions?

Our cooks will seek to cater for special dietary needs if you let us know. You can indicate any diet or health considerations on the registration form.

Can I come on Saturday morning?

Yes- if you can’t make it on the Friday night, you can come along on Saturday morning. The first session begins at 8:30am

What will we do at camp?

We’ll spend the weekend getting to know each other- having fun, eating delicious food and exploring North Queensland a little. We’ll be spending time studying the bible through talks and in small groups, singing and praying together and thinking about plans for Christian Students in the year ahead.
