National Training Event (NTE)
NTE is a conference run by the national movement we are affiliated with, the Australian Fellowship of Evangelical Students.
It is the national gathering for Christian Student groups and a fantastic opportunity to join with Christian Uni students from across Australia.
The conference involves main sessions, strand groups, electives as well as some great resources to get informed and involved in God’s mission here in Australia and around the world. There are particular strands for international students, people looking into who Jesus is and students who have just finished year 12.
Each year a group from CS JCU attend and it’s a conference not to be missed.
You can register here, the information below will help you with the details.
NTE has two parts- a conference and a mission.
Conference
The conference is from 6th-10th December 2025. This year AFES National Director, Richard Chin will be speaking on the topic, “The Eternal Gospel: Timely and Timeless”. You can check more here. You need to register yourself on the NTE website.
A few notes – most of us stay in the ‘standard dormitory’ option – bedding and towels are provided. You can pick the ‘camping’ option if you prefer, but need to bring a tent and bedding with you. The address is EPIC – Conference Centre, Lyneham ACT 2602.
Mission
The second part of the conference is joining with a church for mission. It’s a great chance to share in ministry together and to partner with Christians in rural Queensland.
The mission teams are organised through the individual Christian groups.
We are running a mission in Longreach in partnership with the local Baptist church. The Longreach mission is from the 18th November to the 24th November. You can register to come here
Costs
The main costs are:
Conference fees: $400 for standard dorm (but $360 for students from JCU- there’s a $40 discount if you’re traveling from North QLD).
Travel costs to get to Canberra.
Mission costs: ~$50 (1-2 meals, thank you gifts for hosts, some fuel costs)
Got more questions? Check here or email Tim
We know this is pricey and so we’d love to help. Please contact Tim if you would like to apply for financial assistance. But please believe us when we say it’s worth every penny. Also if you have money you could give to help another student go to NTE please let a staff worker or someone from the executive know.
It might seem pretty complicated so if you have questions or things you’d like us to clarify, please contact us or chat to someone who has been to NTE before.
